The B-24J-1-FO Liberator "Black Cat" was a heavy bomber assigned to the 785th Bomb Squadron, 466th Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force, operating out of RAF Attlebridge in England during the final year of World War II. Like all B-24Js, "Black Cat" featured the distinctive twin-tail and high-aspect "Davis" wing for extended range, packed up to eleven .50-caliber machine guns for defense, and could carry an 8,000-pound bomb load. More than just a mass-produced bomber, this aircraft represented the lethal precision and relentless daylight bombing campaign that the 8th Air Force waged against Nazi Germany from its English bases in 1945.
