Spitfire Mk IA Richard Hillary No 603 Squadron Sept. 1940

Mk IA Spitfire, Flown by Richard Hillary.

Richard Hillary was a Battle of Britain 5-kill ace, who is best known for his book The Last Enemy based upon his experiences during the Battle of Britain. He was killed in a training accident in 1943.

The Spitfire was the most famous fighter aircraft of World War II. It was the only British fighter plane to be in continuous production throughout the war. Just over 20,000 Spitfires were built in total. The plane remained in production and active service until 1955. The Spitfires used in the film Battle of Britain were almost invisible to the camera, as they were so well camouflaged. They had to be filmed against clouds so that they could be seen.

Spruce up your room, man-cave, garage or toolbox with this vinyl decal paying tribute to the Spitfire and this WWII Ace! Comes with smaller vinyl decals that can be applied anywhere, an application tool, and instructions.
